Moderna is a weird company. I don’t know its effectiveness but that it’s the first out the gate with a high profile situation is no surprise. FIngers crossed. I Just hope if a vacciine is invented overseas that we don’t reject it like we rejected the WHO and China test kits. Must we profit off of EVERY situation? Meh. Apparently. Whatever.

I don’t care where it comes from. Solve the problem.

I’m a pragmatist, not a politician.

Of course our scientists should check outsider solutions. But outright rejection without looking is dumb and that’s what we did.

They’re basically a capital raising company doing side-work as a boutique vaccine company. The alluring “cut out the middleman”. But is it all show and no go? Usually is. Remember the mini pin-prick blood tests screenings a few years ago that turned out to be wrong? Same idea. Gotta watch the snake-oil, doublecheck (the “don’t create four more problems” thing like you said).

So, hopefully it’s not just hype for future sales and maybe they actually got something decent other than four pin pricks today and a blurb in Military to taut to improve their stocks a little. Fingers crossed.

I worked for big pharma for a few years. I know how they think – that’s why I’m giving them extra skepticism. I almost transferred to Genetech – I’m afraid to see what they’re doing now.

Ah they’re doing good. company i worked for got ate up (Schering-Plough) but it was long overdue.
