My 17 second review is: it’s not.
I also know: if I got involved, I’d be hooked. I was once hooked on the stock market and it was addictive. Fun, did really well, but not doing it again.
Maybe if it lost the feeling of being Windows XP pop up “earn money while you browse” toolbars I’d think of it.

Same. The mythology of the mysterious genius Japanese guy who came up with the miraculous algorithm then vanished – or the pseudonym of a group of programmers – was mildly intriguing but I think it’s precisely the mystique that helps it function.
Eastern Europe has bitcoin mining operations shutting down local power stations, they’re drawing so much energy, so I dunno.
I did participate in Folding @ Home long ago, as I wanted to help scientists protein folding… which is kind of the same idea I suppose…
