messing around with brushes on MyPaint to see which ones I like. Turns out I like to smudge and blend. I put down blops of color then start pulling it away from the middle, or blending it in, or smudging two colors together. I found three different tools that each do it slightly differently. [one puts the color down with the blending, one just blends, and one picks up the color you land on and lets you “pull” it away and starts blending]. I also like making little patches of grass with a “long grass” tool. Since I’m no painter/artist/etc it’s fun figuring out what tools I enjoy working with. Smeary ones.

That’s awesome! I remember I was *so* excited to get this, not realizing it has a genuine learning curve…. and having to face the fact that no, this does not help you draw if you can’t draw :)

It’s very peaceful to work with it now. I got over some kind of learning “hump” today suddenly. I guess I am used to instantly being good at something and it’s humbling when it takes work and practice. But now that I’m starting to “get it”, who knows? Maybe someday I’ll be at a point where I’ll be ready for my 2nd tablet too
