Marvelous! Mere hobby here. My only attempt at a patent was already someone else’s submitted application 4 months prior to me finishing up my first sketches.
I doubt I could’ve gone all the way regardless but it still was painful seeing what I thought was my exclusive idea someone else’s. I couldn’t poke holes in it. It was a vehicle navigation system with cameras. 1999. I don’t even drive. But I’m safety conscious. Ah well.
Mathematical Morphology is what’s used in medical imaging. You probably know some of it already. Erosion, dilation, using 3×3 5×5 kernels – it’s tied to human vision – the Mexican hat wavelet in particular as well as the others.
It was the first mathematics I really kind of understood conceptually. It got me to the knowledge of what posets were and from that, I could understand any poset.
