Makes sense. I’d put it as a healthy skepticism; I don’t think a kid watching the show necessarily has to believe that the Planets’ Song is telling the truth about The Meaning Of Life, but it introduces a healthy skepticism against whatever else they may have heard, giving them a range of possible options with which to compare/contrast / come up with their own.

Our beliefs seem quite similar. I don’t have a universal formula for what others ought to believe or not per se just yet – I’m still working on my own, muddling through, but I believe the experience of living is what it’s about. I’ve been enjoying the process of trying to figure things out and i think the experience of trying to figure stuff out is important, although some people are happy enough to accept what they learn and there’s room for that as well.
I don’t have enough data to say that I’ve got the correct algorithms; you might and I’m ridiculous for not paying attention – or perhaps another does; But I agree that caring is a crucial part of what makes living worthy; wouldn’t bother communicating if I didn’t but I do
