Losing the humanistic principles is what brought modern atheism into it’s anti-theistic ways.

extremism – or as SO  puts it – us-vs-them mentality – is the issue.

Reasonable people are reasonable.  Reasonable people are reasonably intelligent.

Has nothing to do with particular beliefs or lack of but it does have to do with civility, diplomacy, common sense, and basic humanistic principles.

Losing the humanistic principles is what brought modern atheism into it’s anti-theistic ways.

But, I’m biased: I’m agnostic.  I don’t know either way and perhaps ignostic, if it’s a real word (sounds made up to me) maybe.

But I don’t think everybody needs to be.

If I believe that everybody should believe/think/feel the way I do about things, that might put me in the extremist category…. into an us-vs-them mentality.

I try avoiding that whenever I can because I don’t care what someone’s beliefs are, as long as they’re decent people.
