« WONDER=0 oh!! Here I am 4 years later. They did research since 2017. So: if the PRIORS “don’t matter” in anxiety/ocd/similar things (because they’re generally overwhelmed by detailed sensory input in the present and hence NOT UPDATING priors (not even referring to them), THEN that could be functionally equivalent to: WONDER! It’s Wonder if a positive affect, Fearful if negative affect.

I don’t like the negative language but barring that, I can see how this might work as a model. Autistic symptoms from a Bayesian viewpoint. (A) Perception. Weakly established abstract representations provide predictions with low precision and fail in guiding attention toward informative stimuli. Especially for complex stimuli with frequent irrelevant variations, such as social stimuli, attention can be attracted by unpredicted changes in irrelevant formal aspects. Overweighted low-level prediction errors, due to overly high sensory precision, cause overfitting of the internal model and difficulties in extracting meaningful information. This impairs the establishment of high-level (abstract) representations and reduces the ability to explain away future prediction errors. (B ) Behavior. Minimization of prediction errors is achieved more easily by moving away from unpredictable environments into highly regular environments with repetitive actions and rituals, since they can be precisely predicted by a model without many levels of abstraction. (C) Interaction. Social interactions in particular are characterized by complex dynamic processes and irrelevant random features, which require regularization and suppression by an internal model with a high degree of abstraction and precise predictions. Aspertame alone is reason enough to want to send the FDA to the lowest level of hell. I’ve seen other artificial sweeteners be compared to Aspertane, people claiming negative effects with Splenda, etc, but nothing compares. I watch my intake of it; I get a tight chest from too much; I drink it anyway knowing it’s toxic – I think it converts to formaldehyde in the body – I’m so sorry about your father and no, I don’t blame you at all for your stance with the FDA or Pharma. I worked for Pharma for a short time and yes, they are as amoral as it comes.
eh, they’re on the side of ConAngra, etc for sure so yeah. I expect my pound of corporate plastic a year. But what I like about them; and I don’t just like this a little but I like this a lot; the FDA recall function when there is food poisoning; and they are (usually) aggressive when it comes to algae and mold contamination in factories and sewage spilling in (such as flooding incidents, etc – a toilet backing up near a plant floor can make a week long shutdown). But is there any excuse for their approval of corporate bullshit stuff? no. But I like their public safety function, (acknowledging how many of those things shouldn’t be on the market in the first place)
That’s awesome! Yes, there’s far better methods possible now than this one with 20 year old algorithms in it; I’ve love a more powerful one that worked as quickly on-page but superior in content.
Yeah, I don’t like the whole break-down / rebuild thing. I’d have cracked badly; I don’t like who I am when I crumble under pressure; and the last thing I want is for someone else to develop that aspect of my personality that I work so hard to contain. It’s best left in a box in my mind; my own personal Hulk
