Looking at this and related books and papers, i ended up at: “Principles of Discrete Time Mechanics By George Jaroszkiewic”, 2014 and it grabbed my curiosity because it has a chapter calls “Spreadsheet Mechanics”, likely using spreadsheets as a possible metaphor for a notion of discrete time and how it it may function. So I have to check it out [as I’m a long time lover of Excel for better or worse]. It’s not the main focus of the text but it’s my ‘hook’.
