Found out my family goes back to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Haven_Colony – and stuff. One of them even died on the “Ghost Ship” thing. Others founded Elizabeth NJ back then (1500s), and I was born next door in Roselle Park, NJ, so I never knew much about my Connecticut connection ’til recently.
Learned that all the trade deals with the natives were fair business trade deals. The right people were traded with. The deals with fair and business contracts honest.
No smallpox.
No Puritans.
Nothing bad. Boring.

I’d go back to Europe but we’ve been gone for almost 600 years. I don’t think they’d recognize me.
====
Odd thing is, despite having every reason to I don’t have “American pride”. or white pride or any of that.
I just live here. If I was in Siberia, I’d live there. I probably should’ve been Canadian tbh ’cause they say I’m too nice to be an American,
====
To the OP: I’ll be happy to live in whatever land my DNA tests show if:
a) You pay for my DNA testing and
b) You buy my plane ticket and moving expenses and new home.
Shit’s expensive.
====
What sucks is I have TWO tickets to Mars that I got from NASA a few years back. Got my name on it and everything.
What’d they do? Send only my NAME, once on a thing called a “CD-ROM” and another thing called a “chip”. Yet I’m still here on this planet with these weird people. Whatever. Still waiting for the interplanetary papers.
====
and yet Charles, I see white ppl bringing up slavery, native american heritage, and old conquests that are long ago and mostly forgotten by the world.
Seems like you at least are living in the past and forgot about the present and future.
====
I’m hoping my DNA leads me back to my home planet and they pick me up again. Hate to think this one’s it. The creatures here are odd.

I think so. From an Ameircan’s POV, Russia is just seen as “far Eastern Europe”. Our sense of geography is bad.
====
The American geographical mind goes from “America First” to England and through Western Europe. Pause at the old “East/West Germany” divide, looks confused, then remembers Gypsies.
From there, everybody white is Eastern European speaking a version of Russia.
By the time the American Mind gets to Russia, it’s still seen as an extension of Eastern Europe.
We have no idea where China really is. We think Africa is a country. Our textbooks are shit.
=====
This is why America is a political disaster on the world stage most of the time. We’re generally stupid about anything not America. I’m 45, born and raised here and I try to educate myself as best I can, but I *still* get confused because of mistakes I was taught in school and have to erase.
====
I think America is a very stable country and it will remain so, despite whoever is President at the time and whatever the news says (right or left wing news).
We like drama but we don’t like actual bloodshed on our soul, unless it’s from our cops, who for some reason are allowed to do whatever. Such is how it is. The mess is quietly cleaned up and we move on. We bomb other countries from the sky, keeping our soldiers alive and keep trying to make money. It’s a weird country and it’s VERY different in different parts of the country but it’s pretty stable. Lots of room.
====
Well, a lot of it is hype from the news. Most places don’t have racial tensions and people just co-exist fine. We only hear about the dramatic stuff because it keeps us from having to realize how boring life *really* is most of the time.
=====
A single event happens, and we see it replayed 1000 times on the news and people talk about it online for months. yet, only one thing happened. But it “feels like” it’s going on continuously.
Psychologically warping lots of people I think.
Non-biased is almost impossible but we have variety at least. But once you know the bias of a news source, you can just keep their bias in mind while you read it. It’s not hard to figure out what’s *probably* true in the news compared to what’s “gossip”.
====
Personally? I think some unemployed bored hackers from Russia America and other countries were having some fun as they like to do.
I think the politicians who won here are making big money business deals to improve their *personal* wealth. This way their families businesses will get richers and they are using their political power to get free plane rides, free security and free food.
But the election was probably going to go to a Republican, whoever was running. We had 8 years with a Democrat. A Republican follows a Democrat and a Democrat follows a Republican.
So, yes I think Russian hackers were involved in some things. But no, I don’t think Putin was behind it directly. I also think people in other countries were doing it too, mostly because it was fun to try.
—–
But I don’t have a typical American opinion, I don’t think. I’ve been online for too many years to have a nationalist opinion anymore.
=====
Ronald Reagan was followed by George HW Bush, both Republican. A Democrat *should* have won. But what happened was: gossip and rumours.
The wife of the Democratic person running was far from perfect. She had a drinking problem that was so bad, she was hospitalized for drinking rubbing alcohol.
With an imperfect wife, along with false news about his family, it was enough to cost him the election. But normally, the pattern of Republican to Democrat to Republican holds true.
=====
That’s what keeps America so stable. Nothing really changes. We just believe it does.

Thank you 🙂 I wish they taught it in school but I had to figure it out myself. through studying over time and paying attention.
The founders of the USA were smart. They built the system so that nobody gets too much power. Look at Trump right now. Despite *seeming* to have a lot of power, he doesn’t. Parts of Congress fights other parts of Congress. States fight the Federal Government. Federal departments fight other federal departments. Judges fight all of them. Then there is the news media who does their part.
And with all of this, change is slow. We don’t like change. We talk about change but that’s all we do is talk about it. I’m glad.
