language is not supreme

  • Oh I would say supremacy of language would be the concept that words themselves have an intrinsic nature that make them the gauge by with truth can be measured.
  • Kenneth Udut I’m sure there is a pre-existing phrase/word for the concept – I just don’t know it.
  • Kenneth Udut In short, I’ve used a steak knife as a phillips-head screw-driver. A more or less effective substitute. Its initial purpose is to cut steak. That carried no meaning for me as I needed to a screwdriver and the tip of the steak-knife behaved like a screwdriver.

It’s called a knife and in one context, it’s a knife. But in that current context when I needed a screwdriver, it was a screwdriver.
