You remind me of Khedron the Jester from Arthur C. Clarke’s The City and the Stars.Khedron was an anarchist who made life interesting for the other brilliant but rather conventional inhabitants of Diaspar, a billion-year-old city which was basically Humanity encapsulated, awaiting the return the rest of the Human race from their quest to explore the entire Universe (and as an insurance policy in case they never returned). I liked Khedron and found myself identifying with him – injecting a little chaos to perturb the System in order to keep it from stagnating.

Wow thank you for that! I love being compared, especially to fictional characters, as it gives me an opportunity to compare/contrast the “how I see myself” vs “how I’m seen” – which is a subject I’m always fascinated by. I believe I’ll find you 100% in agreement with my own perception of self.
The name is familiar; I will have to read up on it and see if I’ve read the book. If I haven’t, believe me, I will; or at least, study up on the character and his relationship within the context of the story.
I’ve often compared myself to Holy Fools, or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heyoka Heyoka or whatever other names people come up with.
That archetype has always been inspirational to me. I look forward to looking up more on Khedron; who knows? Perhaps I read the book when I was young (I did read some Arthur C Clark books when I was a teenager), and simply incorporated his character into myself.
