Walls, Hallways, Maze navigation, context vs rules, So the Retrosplenial Cortex (RSC) is activated with Permanent sentences but not with Transient sentences. I also learned that Retrosplenial Cortex is likely responsible for translating Egocentric coordinates (Me in relation to other things) coordinates to Allocentric coordinates (Other things in relation to each Other things, ignoring self, grid) and Allocentric to Egocentric. I also learned that while it’s thought of as visual (maze navigation), congenitally blind have no trouble learning and use the V1 system (first level of vision usually) So, probably missing a link or two but makes sense to me, I think permanent as an “Always” and “Never” is Walls and Rules and while you can add new rules, adding TO a rule would be Transient. (Exceptions are adding to existing rules). But you can add new rules that are the consequence of CONDITIONS so that BOTH are always true, always false, one true and one false and in the moment one consciously task switches rather than automatically knowing specific exceptions. Or I think Transient can be easily converted to Permanent at least in language by making Change a constant or Intermittent a quality of a permanent thing. So the Rubbish, the Drummer’s performance dependability and the Climate can have a permanent quality of Change. That could be a way somebody with a deficient or malfunctioning Retrosplenial Cortex can learn to adapt to change: by adopting a permanence of change. I have to flesh this out more as it’s a lot of ‘new’ but I’m getting a bit of a ‘sense’ of it at least.
Congenitally blind with no visual experience ALSO use the V1 for navigation. It is the TASK not the INPUT MODE that matters here.
