well I like to break it down because I’ve been studying the brain for a while and have a few ideas on how things work but not a lot.
like I’ve been focused on the notion of “salience” for a few years: what makes something seem important?
another has been the notion of intention: is it goal based, etc

The motor cortex is pretty simple because it goes down to frogs and stuff
but thoughts desires and opinions are a little harder because they are a combination of many different systems in the brain functioning in concert with each other
The amount of manipulation needed to shift opinion and thought you can see in the production of documentaries and the multimedia nature
they use the emotional music and tropes and editing and logic in order to convince you of a particular point of view – and it doesn’t always work

two areas they’ve made incredible progress in brain surgery is cochlear implants and artificial vision.
they benefit from being very logically organized in the brain in matrices and such, and they are by nature very adaptable areas that are capable of quick change.
also the areas of the motor cortex have never cease to be amazing.
they also made progress in magnetic cranial stimulation – amplify the one area of the brain to make you see God
