Jack Sinclair
I was born at 6 and 1/2 months.
At first they diagnosed me with cerebral palsy
Two years of intense physical therapy and there’s no sign of any cerebral palsy of any kind and I got to go to kindergarten like a normal kid.
My mother tells the story of when they used to put me on a big exercise ball
I would be on top of the ball and they would roll my face towards the floor
A normal child will put their hands up reflexively to stop the floor from hitting them in the face.
Me? no .
My face would hit the floor over and over and they had to put my arms in front of me to show me the difference between moving your arms to protect yourself and doing nothing.
They had to manually program my motor systems to react through verbal commands and physical actions
To this day, I do not reflexively protect myself
I may have some automatic reactions to some things,
But a majority of things are unfortunately conscious and SLOW
I wish it was a reflexive judgment on my part.
