I’ve never seen the show. I think he appeals to the slightly left to slightly right leaning centrist and/or liberal-that’s-not-a-fan-of-current-social-justice-stuff. I know some Trump supporters that are fans of course — one of the criticisms he got is that so much of the bulk of his following is Alt Right — but that’s the Venn diagram at work. But I’d say the majority are the “regular guy guy”, where you could say “Women, am I right?” or “Kids today and their …” and who may or may not entertain ancient aliens, conspiracy theories about elections, alternative medicine ideas (covid-19 as hoax / oh well isn’t a hoax but is just a cold / well isn’t a cold but the vaccine is worse) slide…
It’s funny that apparently he claims he breaks norms but really he established them. He’s been imitated by many other podcasters as he is legitimately #1.
His humungous footprint combined with loose lips makes him dangerous.
For example he supported and amplified the notion that ANTIFA started the fires in Portland, even long after the FBI repeatedly said “no”.
If he wasn’t so incredibly powerful, I wouldn’t worry. But he’s got the direct ear of millions on a weekly basis – and you can hear it when you talk to people who listen to his shows as they will start sharing the same opinions about things, showing a pattern of influence.
He’s not particularly beholden to the science or truth and this sloppiness I think can get dangerous.
Anyway, that’s all I have.
I still had him in the mostly harmless but after he claimed EARNESTLY that straight white men being “silenced by woke culture” – and has all those millions and millions of straight white men believing this malarkey.. well, things can start to get a little weird particularly when otherwise intelligent people start parroting him.
