I’ve never been good at playing with other people. That takes a kind of real time social cooperation that I find difficult. I could play in school bands and things: that’s just playing your part and sticking to it. But in small groups of 4-7 people, I found being one member of a small band to be very hard. Each member is far too dependent upon the others for stability and there was no room for error or the music machine they are creating as a small ensemble would quickly spin out of control.
