I’ve been struggling for years to incorporate the language and thinking of general architecture as it’s been very very difficult for me to do so.
I naturally gravitate towards individuality, subjectivity, uniqueness, the particulars; I’m surprised when I find ‘things in common’ because I expect diversity and difference to be everywhere.
Even two computers made from nearly the same materials in the same factory on the same day by precision machinery to every specification and test will begin to differ from each other once them start being used, and the longer they are used, the more different than become, leading eventually to strange software errors over time and unique personalities that each computer has.
So, it’s an uphill battle for me to reach such things as gestalt, concepts which come naturally to some people, or other conceptualizations that I consider as sociohistorically bound but for many it simply “is-what-it-is”, a confidence and firmness perspective that I don’t have but try to understand.
