Quite true. I’ve been on a quest to dismantle my assumptions about “the way things are” – finding beliefs that I hold to be true and trying to find out, “WHERE” did I get that idea from. Is it mine?

The thing that surprises me over and over again, is no, I can trace it back to a person, a group, an idea – to something typically from before I was born, but quite often, to something during my lifetime. Someone inspired me. I started wanting to impress them, as if they were there. I would say the kinds of things they would like. And I wouldn’t even be conscious of it.

I don’t mind being a “speaker for the dead” as it were, but I like knowing *who* I’m speaking for. It’d been somewhat disturbing at times, and quite enlightening.
