I’ve always thought of “Fake it ’til you make it” as an 80s thing but I’m amazed in 2020 how many simply lie. Self-help success books would recommend creating a fictional backstory, loosely related to your own, hiding within corporate protections if needed, etc. But what amazes me is it still works but I still keep thinking, “Nah, everybody’s just in on the joke, nobody really believes this stuff”.
