Agreed. In fact, it’s precisely those moments when the amygdala is doing its best to get us to shut down/fight/flee when virtues are the most important. That’s when they cease being “nice ideas for other people” and the rubber meets the road. Takes lots of practice though and thankfullly, the world and its inhabitants – and the unexpectedness of life itself – gives us a thousand opportunities a day to practice it.
