It’s not quantity. It’s quality. Effectiveness. There is most certainly ABUSE in the system that needs excising. My lord there is abuse. I worked for a pharmaceutical company a zillion (ok, 24) years ago for a few years and signed a handful of NDAs that let me get a peek into some of the waste, just a smidgen – and only from that angle. The US Healthcare system absolutely needs work. But this blind hacking and slashing of this current administration and hoping that everything will magically work out because whoever is left over wants to keep their jobs badly enough to do anything, might work fine with programmers who wrote their code already and sat around drinking lattes on company time but this ain’t that. I’m worried about the people you support oversimplying the problem and oversimplying solutions without even looking at the MOST BASIC efficiency vs effectiveness metrics. Where is anybody looking at effectiveness needs? What standards of care are they shooting for? What are they willing – or anxious – to drop out of the system in order to achieve “efficiency”?
