its not justice – George Floyd did not get his day in court and is still dead.
it should not have taken ALL THIS.
It did, pointing to severe issues.
It’s good the guilt declaration is official. As a nation of laws, that’s our process. but as a nation of laws, every person accused of committing a crime, should have their day in court.
So a nation of “the whims of the powerful” decided George Floyd should die.
A nation of laws would have had George Floyd in front of a judge for whatever reason the police were engaging with him in the first place or back to normal life. Alive either way. That is what is just.
So we are a nation of laws for the powerful, a nation of “the whims of the powerful” for those who are not.
Should such a thing happen in the future, a far different procedure should take place in a nation of laws.
The abuser of socially invested authority (the police officer) should not get special treatment. A betrayal of trust placed “in good faith” by the community is severe.
