Cato Institute, arm of Charlie Koch and family, sometimes muddies the waters, even though Rothbard was involved as well.
Being owners of vast corporations, open borders is right on top of Koch values along with removal of minimum wage and also a majority of human rights laws as it would facilitate ultra cheap labor, the free market would include poverty labor willing to come in and make 50 cents and hour because it beats conditions in their native country, etc – and they have the very companies that would supply those jobs etc.
But you’ll be hard pressed to find modern right-wing libertarians espousing those values; even to the point of people claiming that Rothbard was starting to change his mind just before he died; a kind of mythological deathbed conversion that would just so happen to fall in line with modern right wing no-snake stepping libertarian notions.
FFF as well; they’re merely mouthpieces for mega corporations only have those ‘principles’ as a ‘means to an end’ not as an individualist liberty.
They have gifted writers though; I read one the other day someone sent to me that was supposed to show that Libertarians believe that illegal immigrants cause more traffic accidents – he was a police officer in CO in his past and didn’t believe me when I said that migrants tend to drive more carefully and slowly here in FL.
I see the article is FFF or Cato – I don’t remember which – and I already knew what I’d find and I did.
It SEEMS to paint a negative picture of illegal immigrants until you actually READ it and it says things like,
“surprisingly, illegal immigrants are in much FEWER car accidents than any other Hispanic group, who typically because of socioeconomic status… blah blah blah” and so the whole thing for the careful reader says the opposite of what it seems, as the groups are both pro open borders but write carefully because the current libertarian populist climate is against it.
This has nothing to do with libertarian spider man.
