It’s none of our business if the community wants it gone.

Take pictures, make a 3D movie, make a clay imitation of it to stick in “things best forgotten” museum and get rid of it — IF the community wants it gone.

It’s none of our business if the community wants it gone.

Besides, can’t erase history. The deNazification program didn’t erase history. Rather it kept people from having to LOOK AT IT LOOK AT IT LOOK AT IT all the time and allowed them to move forward as a country.

If the birthplace of the KKK doesn’t want to be reminded everyday that “HEY WE WERE THE BIRTHPLACE OF THE KKK!” all the time as they go about their daily business, and they want it gone and see it as a blight on their community and its future, and they decide, “Time to move forward now”, it’s their business if they own it.

If the town doesn’t want to be seen as “The Town Of Failed Hatred”, they have a right to remove it.

they shouldn’t be forced to keep a monument because outsiders want to force them to keep it.

Bee in it, through it, seem some WEIRD things there. Some of the really small towns are especially.. unique.

But it’s the town’s problem, unless it’s owned by the county. Then it’s the county’s problem. If it’s owned by the state, it’s the state’s problem.

Late 90s, spent a little time here, during my religious questing phase. Messing around with Eastern Orthodox stuff. Monastery. Good people there, all Georgians and Tennessee people doing Russian stuff. It was fun.

Point is, it’s none of our business. If we make it our business, we might make problems for them and what communities want little shields and marchers all over the place?

Birthplace of the KKK =/= Pyramids. What living families of former Egyptian slaves exist anymore? Nice try. 2/10.

====

Besides, Pyramids are a “World Heritage Site” I think. Protected by more than just the egyptian govt although I could be wrong.

Whose responsible for this monument? They’re the ones who can decide.

Next county over from me is “Lee County, FL”. Named after Robert E. Lee. It’s a local issue. Nobody else’s business.

So far, because he’s NOT riding into victory, everybody seems ok with the statues but there are discussions happening to see what community values are, thanks to the freaks descending on Charlottestown enmasse.

I don’t want assholes from Ohio and Reno telling my communities what they should and should not do, battling in the streets like bad college SCA.

There you go then. Sucks for Tibet. Write an angry letter saying they shouldn’t have done that. Or wage war against China over it if that makes you happy but I prefer not.

====

Possibly, although usually only royal families survived to reproduce for long family lines. Poor families usually just died off eventually. That’s why so many white people are related to English monarchs. The poor family lines died off as they do.
