It’s my thing. I’m always on the lookout for the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unreliable_narrator from wherever it comes.
Skepticism born from “Fight Back!” Consumer rights TV show in the 1980s, raised in an area of NJ where politicians, marketers, used car sales, “Crazy Eddie”, mafia, business ceos, religious leaders who put a shingle on their house that says “Pastor” or guru, and ‘natural healers’ selling snake oil cures and actual gypsies in cities using their babies for profit, I always look at the sources.
Doesn’t mean an unreliable narrator is lying. Sometimes they tell the truth… but it’s too often mixed with half-truths and outright lies.
So, that’s why I do it. I could be wrong but it’s not a world for the naive.
