It’s like the supposed Tide Pod / Condom snorting challenges. Almost NOBODY is actually DOING these things at any age, but if you can play along and trick older generations into a hysteria, it’s a good thing.
I realized this WAY back in the cinnamon challenge. Yeah, you’d see 8-11 yr old kids doing them en masse. But it was a magic trick. You use cinnamon + sugar and they knew it.
You could tell the difference. A famous video shows an adult aged person doing it who begins to choke and throw up. That was one of the earliest ones that spread… and I think it’s the only time I ever saw someone actually do it without the sugar.
[I saw some compilations with my nephew way back and all the others were doing it as a magic trick. You can tell by how they cough and spray out the powder].
Can’t say it was a”great” or smart challenge, but “idiot tests” is a part of most of these challenges.
True but few actually did the “Tide Pod challenge”. Almost every one is just a fake. Faking is key to the challenges ever since cinnamon. [even the 8-11 yr olds knew it was a magic trick:: you use cinnamon-sugar, not straight cinnamon].
But we actually did those drugs and not for youtube fame.
Going viral is a high – I’ve felt it and like it, but I’m just as good when it doesn’t happen. I like making stuff which is good enough for me.
