It’s great stuff. I used to spend lots of time in the library as a kid so getting online at the first chance was the best thing for me. It was a logical next-step and I love that the world concurred that “this is a good idea that we need to have”.

That’s what it was for me too. Access. Access really is everything. I used to plough through encyclopedias and dictionaries for the same reason. It’s “there” and I just had to turn pages. Now there just a lot more of it. I’m kind of glad a lot of the content on the internet is just silliness because it means getting “all the good stuff” on the internet is less than the total content of the internet 🙂

sci-hub is one of my favorite resources now. To get access to academic and scientific papers is a dream come from. I keep waiting for it to get shut down so I use it at least a few times a day for something I’m curious about.

It’s true but you can lead a horse to water and all that. I figure as long as they get _something_ they like out of the internet, it’s a good thing. Socializing is a big part of it. People even ruin that by making their socializing throwing jabs at each other. Still, at least it’s safely from behind walls of glass for the most part. Would I want the internet just full of nerds like it once was? Sometimes. But really, it just means that now I have to go searching for them and it’s a fun search.
