It’s a shame the distinction between Arminianism and Calvinism isn’t brought out more.

Yes, from what I understand I think the traditional Southern Baptist WAS quite compatible with the Methodist church I grew up in, the Southern Baptist of President Jimmy Carter for example, who left around 2000 due to the undue influence of hyper conservative elements within, which I *think* was the influx of Calvinist elements.

It’s a shame the distinction between Arminianism and Calvinism isn’t brought out more. It’s a HUGE difference within the Protestant churches. I didn’t even know Methodist was Arminianism – or even what that was – until I was well into adulthood, and had long ceased participating in Methodist things.

But it explained the huge divide in American Protestantism: Salvation for all vs Salvation for few. It’s a big divide which shows up in so many ways, including racism.
