It’d have been interesting if they could bring today’s FF back to 1987. But machines to play it on would’ve been in govt facilities and compiled on mainframes.

I tried one of the FF’s long ago (no idea which one or what year – I was at a friend’s house) . [it’s one of the oldest series’ out there]. Seemed to have potential but I wasn’t impressed. Glad it’s improved.

From what I understand 1-6 are not really worth playing if you’re getting into it now. Advice I’ve seen is at least start with 7 but the later, the better. [random opinion I acquired through the years and just assumed it was true]

You make a good point – and it’s your post. Example:

Super Mario Bros (1985) is a “good game”.
It’s good for 1985. It’s good in 2017.

Like all games it’s possible to be a critic but there’s a good reason you’ll see it as a mini-game in newer Nintendo titles and people making versions of it for gamer programing practice, but you won’t see the earlier FF games being used in that way.

I might be wrong and welcome correction but that’s what I’m seeing.
