It was a good course. I enjoyed it. I was hoping for more controversial things but it was a bit more tame than I’d expected. Primarily about white women from the northeast and what they did with a sprinkle of color and other US cultures here and there. Still, I got to inject some:
In one assignment, we had to research using some database that specialized in media articles on various issues like gender, trans, lgb, etc.
So pulled something up from my childhood: Rocky Horror Picture Show, and wrote a paper about its influence of the era, how it reflected a certain set of values of equality and towards acceptance of expanding gender norms in society etc. Got some nice comments from fellow students include some that were surprised such a thing happened way back in the last century lol.
