Yes, I wouldn’t want to develop for Apple. I like their ergonomics. They really try hard to keep the human factor in mind constantly. It was a strange experience when I got my iphone 4s; I decided THIS TIME, I will not hack. I will just use it. I mean, what do you do when you CAN’T change a battery…. you CAN’T insert an SD card. You CAN’T even access the file system?
You use it.
For a guy that’s always tweaking things, to have a device that isn’t worth bothering tweaking was and is strangely liberating. It’s ONE THING I don’t think about much. So, in upgrade time, I went to iPhone 5s.
yet, if an Android dropped in my lap that was equivalent, or if Apple started losing their touch, I wouldn’t hesitate to walk away from Apple.
I think my favorite thing is the most ridiculous thing: When apps crash, they quietly just ‘stop’. No stress. No error codes. No OMG WHAT JUST HAPPENED. It just quietly dies and you try it again. Simple thing. Very powerful. Very human.
