It holds true for the strange things people on the center-right to far right find acceptable for their politicians to say and do so why not liberals too?
Overton window has shifted so far to the right that people seriously discuss ethnic cleansing , a “woman’s place is in the kitchen” and right-side concepts that were unthinkable just a few years ago.
But overton shift affects us all invisibly so it’s hard to spot it while it’s happening. As part of the public, we’re all affected by acceptability changes in public discourse.
Peterson likes to create drama around himself. He creates issues where none exist and has been called “the stupid person’s smart person” for a reason.
This isn’t to say all who like him are stupid — not at all. But he takes an activist’s stance.
He has a significant fanbase, particularly in the left-center to far right.
Basically, if one aligns as an “anti-SJW”, one will probably like Peterson.
Thankfully he’s abandoned plans for his website targeting professors by name but has inspired others to do it instead.
In my mind, he’s an SJW for the “other side” as it were, rather than an innocent smart guy just speaking his mind.
It’s his activism that bothers me more than his opinions as an individual.
The intelligent activist (and he is intelligent) will speak softly and let others be his megaphone for him. His hands stay clean. He does this very well.‘
