It got cult status for a reason. Every college studies it in various ways – that’s why I watched it. It wasn’t too bad; for me as a comedy that mocks men who feel their lives are too easy and careful and they crave danger and pain and desire to be able to say “nothing matters now so I can do whatever I want”, but cleverly tied to a buddhist framework while ranting about modernism and consumerism (parts I agree with as many would) — it was pretty good.
But the fandom that would simply say “The First Rule of Fight Club is nobody talks about fight club” whenever the movie comes up in conversation got to be kind of dull through the years.
