It can solve the problem when you’ve been the strong one too much and for too long and you need to press the reset button. Then you can start again.
I don’t get it much but when I do, it’s always been at the right time when I had to.
It’s an excellent way to clear pesky nasal passages too.
I’m not prone to it. But I’m not prone to anger either. I can handle certain levels of frustration and then I get into “fix it” mode. Do something to move things forward, even if it’s sitting there listening, although usually it’s “make that phone call” or “plan next step”. But that’s my temperament.
As I don’t suffer from depression, it took a long time to realize that for many people, “distract yourself” isn’t the answer. They have a tangled knot inside and can’t function until it’s untied. But it’s not untied through reasoning or avoiding but by facing it head on and feeling the feelings they feel.
Honestly, I wish I could sometimes. But they seem to go into depths of hell I can’t honestly fathom.
