Interestingly I never read Steppenwolf. It was the name of a band and I liked maybe two of the songs. At the time, I was experimenting with CB Radio – breaker-breaker 1-9 good buddy – around the same time as the first chat rooms appeared online — and EVERYBODY had a wolf name. White Wolf, Black Wolf, Red Wolf, Drunk Wolf, Bright Wolf… … so I thought I’d be clever and be Steppen Wolf…. …which I carried over into online chat rooms for a while. and yet I never read the book even though it was my handle/screen name for a lot of years.
