In “sensation and perception” class (for cognitive science minor), I learned that melodies don’t get perceived past 5000 hz and that’s also the limit of phase locking for pitch. But my hearing only goes up to 5000 hz in my good ear and drops like a stone. I’m also musical from the time I was in the high chair. I wonder if that was my brain compensating for immature hearing facilities? It’s like a few pieces of a long puzzle that I didn’t have before but I still don’t know where to put them yet.
