“In case of emergency (ICE): PREPARE TO GO CAMPING FOR A FEW DAYS….at home.

Sometimes. During hurricane season [thankfully it’s rare we get them], I have enough water/food for a few days.

The trick is to have enough stuff available long enough for rescue efforts to come.

Most disasters aren’t FOREVER disasters; emergency response teams are more or less prepared to handle WHATEVER weird crap comes by.

You can see if you have a CERT (Certified Emergency Response Team) in your area. I joined one for a few years. Learned about local area potential issues and how to handle them, even down to writing out a toe tag or marking a house as unsuitable for human habitation. [and how to recognize it].

I’m not a part of it now, but the training is good to have.

So, it’s good to know this stuff. A few days water, a few days food, battery backup, a generator is good if you can but a car with gas and chargers is usually enough.

Gas masks? Probably not. A year of food? Probably not.

A camp stove with a couple of propane tanks? Yes.

In short, “In case of emergency (ICE): PREPARE TO GO CAMPING FOR A FEW DAYS….at home.
