I’m using the same thing here. I need your rules. Then I can play the game you want to play.

Real discussion is communication. People talk to other people. They agree, they disagree. When they have misunderstandings, they try to figure out ways to resolve the misunderstandings through negotiating towards a common understanding through a series of exchanges.

This is about as real as a discussion gets.

If there’s a subset of a real discussion that you wish to partake in, one with certain sets of rules particular to that form of discourse, I can play. I just have to know the rules. I’ve played many games with my nephew through the years – he’s 10 years old now, and I’ve learned to let him define the rules *first*. Then I learn the rules of the game he wants to play, and then I can play them.
