I’m still not fully buying it. What things do your cultural acclimation come from? You’re socialized from babies onwards at increasing levels of complexity. Your momma, your near family, your caregivers. Media (books, tv, tablets-in-hand – I hope I don’t have “skibidi toilet” rizz). Compulsory education. Somewhere around the age of 7/8 your social world EXPLODES and you start the first “curve of forgetting” – amazing to witness, asking an 8 yr old now up to date with ROBLOX what he was thinking when he was 4 and he won’t remember. But ask that same kid at 6 year olds what he was thinking at 4 and he will remember. So that’s one bit of ‘crystalizing’ – the forgetting and consolidation. So you COULD argue that anything after 8 is suspect with regards to the primary level of culture. But still, that primary level is still very limited; you’re not as exposed to the adult world yet. That happens usually in adolescence and that’s when a lot of your early assumptions are absolutely DESTROYED — and replaced.
