I’m old fashioned; I’m still referring to it as Corona. I’m not going to go along with the “cool kids” and call it by a country – that’s just dumb and ship sailed on that weeks ago.
Not sure about gendered Corona though – I heard in German it’s neutral gender.
Can’t stand this guy but I agree with him about four times a year. This is one of those times.
But I suspect what Barr knew WAS public knowledge and his dumping of hotel stock a month ago and keeping his mouth shut wasn’t insider trading per se, but considering the severity that has been caused by SO MANY staying quiet – with the voices of alarm being few and far between – it should be considered as such – a betrayal of country by a person who is bound by oath to serve.
Although to be honest? I think he’s mad that Barr didn’t tell HIM to dump his stock too a month ago.
Coordination is what’s required. These “If not capitalist, then it’s socialist so we need to stay capitalist” stuff misses the point all the time. IT doesn’t matter so long as they’re effective coordination.
Run two simultaneous systems: keep things semi-private with the capability to flip a switch to turn things into single source control and guess what?
We have that capability and that’s what we did. Flip a switch: Good bye capitalism, hello special powers.
I know a few folks who have family/friends who died, including the 34 yr old guy from Cali who JUST got back from Disney the other week. I also know cousins of that Italian? NJ family in NJ that’s 1/2 killed off from a family dinner from 3 weeks ago.
Friend on FB was friends with this guy – he’s beside himself right now.
Fusco’s a common New Jersey last name so I’m not surprised the Fuscos I knew were related to these Fuscos.
My state rep’s (florida, 25th district) got the Corona (I’m not going with the “cool kids” and changing the name to a country) but I didn’t vote for him. Still hope he’s alright.
hat’s a quick “whatabout these other things?” moment. You like Tucker -that’ s your business. Personally, I’ve watched him on and off since his CNN days and he likes trouble and isn’t as smart as he claims. Pampered rich guy and it shows in his opinions. Smart-ass funny which is ok except he’s serious when anybody else would be trolling using the same words and logic.Still,he’s right wing libertarian and I’m left wing libertarian, which gives us both some overlap. So, on occasion, about 4 times a year, I agree with him.
He’s superior to me financially and socially. Why does he get moral superiority too? He doesn’t. I got that.
$6 million salary for TV?
His daddy married heiress to the Swanson frozen food empire. That’s why I call him pampered rich guy.
It means his interests are that of the wealthy and powerful class.I don’t disrespect his family here: His daddy was the head of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting for five years and has done a LOT of work with broadcasting, politics, etc around the world. They’re conservative, which is no surprise but more neutral than standard conservatives, which gains my respect. That’s why I agree with him 4x a year. He _can_ be neutral and correct at times. Most of the time, he’s a rabble-rouser – loves to escalate.
I’m going by my observations. Is “socially constructed” a criticism of some kind? You’ve said the phrase a few times but I don’t understand. Is that something of significance?
Do I fail a litmus test for having opinions?
I don’t recall talking about oppression or oppressor. Classifying is simply something one does to communicate otherwise it’s human human human? human human. Human human human human! Oh, human
I’m giving my impression of him. TO do so, I bring in anything from my ontology (my web of knowledge) that I darn well please. If it offends you or your sensibilities on how one ought to talk about wealthy people, that’s how it is I suppose. But I bring in whatever I think comes into bear when talking about my impression of a person.
Give me an example of a race that you can chose.
I wasn’t attacking him. He’s a pampered wealthy guy who has greater social, political and economic power than I do.Where’s the lie in that? What’s offensive in that?
Compared to a poor family in upstate New York, I’m pampered. It’s all relative. I don’t see the issue in what I said.
The higher your social status, the more pampered you are. That’s just a boring plain fact.Example: Living in the USA, you’re automatically pampered compared to a lot of other countries. But even within the USA there’s differences. If I lived in Norway, I’d be more pampered than in the USA, even if I was poorer. It’s all relative.
I don’t buy the myth of the “rigged individualist” in America. IT’s just not real.
I put rigged individualist right alongside the myth of the self-made millionaire. Predictable script, yet there’s almost always family money behind US successes.
Mostly job loss, fundamental restructuring of debt instruments, essential services becoming services instead of options, permanent closing of many meeting places and large events taking place online instead of in person…markets changing measurement of fundamentals from a growth (P/E) to another marker likely related to _+actual+_ fundamental features of a business’s sustainability – rather than growth potential, etc.
Increased automation in everything, establishment of a “stay-at-home class” which will probably make up a good 25 – 30% of the population, delivery services moving from private enterprise back to public service (Amazon turns into a government wing), etc.
and… there it is. People will still go around thinking “All Americans are getting $1000 / $2000″ but they’ll be wrong. The Republicans did not suddenly become Bernie Sanders or Yang or Progressive in any way.
I don’t know if this is a done deal now but don’t hold your breath waiting for a check in the mail.
Please double check this but this is just the thing I was worried about and why I was posting about it the way I was yesterday.
Oh this is worse than I thought. I thought he kept it to himself. No, a lot of people knew full well what was happening and all of them chose to say absolutely nothing. The members of that “club luncheon” may not be in responsible positions in society but this man is.
All of this came from the senator on the very same day Trump was telling Americans that COVID-19 is “going to disappear. One day, It’s like a miracle. It will disappear.”
