I’m from a blue collar neighborhood in New Jersey – well, half blue collar, half commuting to NYC.
And anytime somebody growing up there wanted to leave the town and go to college or got a girl to get married, the friend groups would try to hold them back ,”she’s gonna ruin you”, or they’d say bad things about college learning and what it does to people, etc.
But they just wanted to keep people down at their levels.
