I’m for it. Yes, they are excellent representatives. They represent the US Senate as a US Institution worth having. They’re both long term Senators and they are used to debating each other as part of their jobs anyway.
also, I looked at the people behind it:
“Hatch Foundation Partners with Kennedy Institute, Bipartisan Policy Center, and Fox News to Launch Groundbreaking Debate Series”
Orrin Hatch was a Republican Senator for a long time.
Edward Kennedy was a Democrat Senator for a long time.
Bipartisan Policy Center was created by Democrat and Republican party members to foster healthy debate.
Starting it on Fox News media is actually a stroke of genius in many ways: It MIGHT just bring in the very people that REALLY REALLY REALLY need to pull back away from the edges of reality. After that it’ll be on C-SPAN, which is about as impartial as whatever can be.
Now, I see Lindsey Graham as a bootlicker and changes opinions depending which way the smoke is blowing – a politician’s politician. So, he’s actually perfect in that part. And Sanders is like a steady rock: you know what he’s going to say before he says it because he said it 10 years ago, 30 years ago, etc.
So, yeah, it’ll be a good start to this kind of thing. Maybe it’ll show that there’s actually kind of a variety of opinions within the Senate- which there is – it’s just rare to get to see it
