I’m “always an uncle, never a dad” and I like that role. Warm, engaged and also aloof at the same time. Would I raise kids if the situation warranted it? Sure . It would be an honor. But it’s not something I’ve sought after, as genetic line continuation never meant anything to me and if I did, I’d probably be a foster parent or adopt anyway.
