I’m a lifetime independent, not a party guy, so like you, I find both parties ridiculous.
Any test I take puts me way off in the left / anarchist / libertarian side.
Hippie basically, although I don’t smoke pot.
But I feel a civic duty and I hold politicians to standards, even while also knowing they’re all basically scoundrels and cheats.
When I talk about long memory, what I mean is things like: decorum, diplomacy, a show of decency.
Whether they tick a D or R or I on their party name doesn’t change those things.
I’m not a centrist. Until I was 42 I THOUGHT I was. I think everybody believes they hold normal, average moderate views until tested.
I was shocked in 2014 to find how far left and anarchist I was. Took some processing as I’d voted Republican and Democrat and 3rd party alike.
But my temperament is what it is. I’m not shocked by shows of individuality in appearance and lifestyle but I am shocked by policies that harm groups of Americans and rally about that kind of thing.
Any business owner that claims to be paying you “out of pocket” is either delusional about tax structures or full of BS.
It’s a lot to learn. It’s not THAT difficult but it’s “all the little things” as you’re basically managing a distinct person and all of its needs. The mistake some new business owners make is thinking “it’s them”. But it’s not. Even if you do a fictitious name or run a business under your own name, it’s STILL a distinct individual from you as the humans can be replaced by any other humans.
