I’m a Frisbie. The Frisbie line in America was founded by an orphaned 14 year old boy, Edward Frisbie in the early/mid 1600s whose parents Died At Sea. He going back and forth with his family, Richard and Margaret Frisbie since 1619 between England and Virginia, as dad was an indentured servant for a tobacco company (the Virginia Company – why Virginia got its name). Edward was born in 1621 either in Virginia or England. On a 1634 trip to Connecticut, smallpox spread on the ship, killing 60 passengers including Edward’s family. (except for his brother Peter who had remained in England and had a long and fruitful life) He and many of that part of genealogy stuck around Branford, Connecticut for hundreds of years. “Frisbees” were named after the Frisbie Pie plates students at Yale tossed around. The founder of the Frisbie Pie company was a cousin. [Yale is 10 mins away from Branford, Ct – both part of New Haven]
