I’m 46. Smashing Pumpkins is *supposed to* be “my era” but I _also_ had little interest in Nirvana just prior to that either. My “following new bands” phase was between ages 11-14. Found Pink Floyd then 60s/70s “classic” (at the time). I _tried_ to ignore hair bands like Warrant from age 15-18but I still know all the lyrics to most hair band songs, sadly.

These days I try to find music I can’t predict well. Around 2012-2014, I listened to just about every song as it was in the trending-this-week on Youtube and got to see the start of trends. But I found I could review almost every song within 10-15 seconds, scrolling through to get the musical idea, the chorus feel and the bridge part with the rise and drop part which I liked.

It was fun.
