“The secret of your future life is hidden in your daily routine” – me, age 14

“If you set goals for the future, make them specific and realizable. Then, forget them and you’ll make the right choices to get you there while you lead your life.” -Ken, age 24, after going through a bunch of “you can do it!” type motivational audio things.

I have a story about that actually working that I’ll share sometime.

=====

Stuff that *didn’t* work for me: Other peoples micromanaging techniques. “gtd” (getting things done), other peoples forms of categorization and ‘ticker files’ and color coding stuff, “calendar based”, planner-based (neither “Trapper Keeper” nor “business planner” nor Palm pilot style nor 30-boxes nor Everclear (wait that’s a drink) worked for me.

Maybe they work for some ppl but they didn’t for me.

What *did work*: Have a motivational guru “You can do anything!” guy or two that you feel is rooting for you from far away. Have several but have at least one.

You have McKenna for sure and probably others as well. I had a bunch: Tony Robbins (it was the 90s) was one of mine although I’ve moved beyond Tony. But I’ve had other before and since him as well. Point is it’s good to have at least _someone_ ‘out there’. Maybe it’s a ‘guy thing’, I dunno, but for some reason we’re inspired by some dude who seems to say the stuff we need to hear.

[and I like being at least in part ‘that dude’ for other people, which is something I noticed a lot of us here like to do. Find the good stuff, figure out our own way with this stuff, pass it on freely in hopes that it’ll jiggle someone else (and also ourselves) into motivation towards greater and broader horizons]

I was going to start a business (back when I thought you had to do EVERYTHING from the top-down. “Our Local Guru”. I was gonna start it off as a “computer instruction” but really run it as an umbrella company for other services to go under. Mostly “hire a know-it-all”.

I had visions of teams of people across the world helping local people out with whatever their needs were.

Wasted a few $$$ but not *too* many as I abandoned it when I realized it was the wrong path.
