Naveed AkhtarRapes are greatly under reported. You cannot draw valid conclusions from the statistics. The whole process of reporting is Traumatic and usually avoided. I’ll give an example:
When you were a boy, did you or anyone you know have encounters with adults that were inappropriate?
I suspect you did, as most children do at least once by some adult or older child in some fashion.
It’s usually chalked up to “that’s just part of growing up” and most people push forward.
Those events are not reported or they are handled quietly by the schools, religious groups, youth groups, families involved because dealing with the police and the court system is messy drawn out invasive and complicated.
If you never had any strange encounters as a child with some adult or older child, then you’re lucky. But it’s more common than not.
