if you have ANOTHER way, you’d better prove it otherwise step-in-line with everybody else.

My nephew does math in his head as well.
We’ve compared strategies.
His are different than mine.
I don’t know if a large scale study of “how people do math in their heads” was done, but I hope it was.

I’d LOVE to see my ways of doing it reflected in a curriculum somewhere as “hey guys this is ANOTHER way you can get quick answers”.

But what I’ve seen so far seems to be ‘one way only’ of getting there, taught and tested and if you have ANOTHER way, you’d better prove it otherwise step-in-line with everybody else.
