If you ever wondered how they made realistic plants and trees in movies and video games, here’s how:
L-Systems : Finally going to read “The Algorithmic Beauty of Plants”. It was written in 1968 and was a unique book in that it was coffee-table style, full of beautiful pictures of plants and the algorithms that formed them, and was a unique combination of computer science, new algorithmic language, botany and art, all rolled into one.
I’ve heard about this book but it’s been out of print for a long time.
Thankfully, somebody made a copy for free online, complete with the high resolution illustrations and photographs of nature.
Only 240 pages and I think I’ll enjoy finally reading the source that others only ever barely touch upon.
